Housing in Eastern Europe

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovenia - all countries now belonging to the European Union - were communist dictatorships prior to the political upheaval of the early 1990s. Private contractors and developers were unknown, the word 'mortgage' didn't exist and the land register was largely ineffective.
Housing in Eastern Europe reports in words and images on the quest for a new arrangement of housing in these former Eastern bloc countries. The many conversations with those involved raised a welter of questions. Who are the new housing entrepreneurs? Are housing corporations a new phenomenon on the rise?
